six. outside of the relationships hinted at in hooks, i prefer any and all relationships develop naturally over time.

A woman of many faces, Alea spends most of her time playing a persona. Her entire demeanor changes at the drop of a hat. She can be whoever she needs to be, for the right price. Her work as an informant has allowed her to master the arts of persuasion and deception, her words unfounded in truth serving only as a means to an end. However, her deceit is not heavy-handed; if you believe she’s being facetious, it’s usually an intentional blunder to distract from a wandering hand in your belongings. Spending so much time playing a character has its consequences; she often finds herself struggling with her sense of identity. She becomes an amalgamation of the people she interacts with in hopes of finding a sliver of her former self in one of them.Those who have spoken to Alea recognize that she has a rather blunt way of speaking, preferring to spare the formalities and make conversations as efficient as possible. Her default reply to offhand remarks is a nod or a hum to acknowledge the speaker without having to form a longer response. She hardly means to come across as rude or disinterested. If anything, she finds it rude to prolong a conversation past its time. However, this need for effective communication does not stop her from adding her two cents when a situation allows it—even if her intrusion would have an unsavory outcome like in the case of an escalating fight. Despite her best attempts, she can’t help her underlying urge to provoke. She takes great interest in learning others’ true natures.Few have gotten to know her more closely, but anyone who has taken the time would find pleasant conversation. She tries much harder to actively engage in discussions, abandoning her head shakes and grunts for a clarifying question or two. If she’s feeling especially playful, she may attempt to crack a joke or two, though they tend to come out rather clunky. Her strength lies in dry or sarcastic humor, as her normal tone often leaves others wondering whether or not she is joking. She typically uses this skill to malign others, especially those who attack her peers, in an underhanded way that rarely leads to a confrontation. Those who have gained her allegiance will have it until she decides otherwise. Even still, she holds these people at a distance—she would hate to lose everything again.

have you ever seeked out insider information? you might have interacted with alea before! as an informant, alea has a wide web of contacts, each with valued information that she holds closely to her chest. that said, the sound of a jingling coin purse is often enough to loosen their lips...or tighten them.perhaps your character is an active client of his, seeking information. or perhaps you've never met and aim to benefit from his network. just remember, everything comes at a price.

over the years, alea has taken a liking to potions; more specifically, he's taken a liking to poisons. they have made it their mission to curate several, brewing into the late hours of the night—even going as far as to test them on himself. they have even begun to sell their large collection to any patrons who dare to ask.if your character is even more familiar with the seedy undersides, they might know about alea's side hustle. maybe you were a buyer of hers in the past. if not, maybe you would like to be.

when they're not spilling secrets, they're spilling blood. alea has also taken up a side job as an adventurer for hire, and for the right price will slay anything—or anyone. luckily, this job meshes well with their others.if alea's schedule is too light for her liking, she might be inclined to take a task or two. if your character is low on coin, don't fret; alea takes information as payment, too.

alea, in her informant work, has had to wear several different hats to find out information. in separating from her true identity, she easily falls into a caricature—but it can be awkward when people find her after such an elaborate lie.your character might know alea under a different name and profession, maybe even a different personality altogether. unfortunately, he might not recognize you.

if your character is familiar with the tribes of the steppe, or perhaps encountered them, you might have seen a formidable lancer by the name of akor igras. the resemblance to alea is stark, almost uncanny. your character might wonder if they have any relation.though, igras was definitely a xaela au ra, and the one sitting in front of you is raen without a doubt. but that feeling of familiarity is far too hard to ignore...
